Course Description

The full-time adult Internship Retail /Charity Shops course covers the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar. The course includes Cambridge examination preparation at levels B2 – C2.

This course combines full-time General English in the morning with part-time work experience in the afternoon for 2 to 52 weeks.

The Internship will give students work experience and improved language skills in a retail environment. The placement will develop the learning of life skills such as team work, task completion, decision making, organisational skills, communication skills, confidence building etc.

Students have use of a coursebook in class and are given homework as part of the course.

Students can attend a weekly language clinic, free of charge, where they will get one-to-one help on any aspect of English they wish to review.

Students can attend English 2000 social activities and excursions, to help build confidence in practising English outside the classroom environment. Some activities are free, other activities and all excursions will incur a charge and this is payable at Reception. Certain activities and some excursions are for students aged 18+ only.

Work Experience

  • Unpaid work experience in a charity shop
  • Hours and work are decided by the placement provider
  • It may be necessary to take a bus or train to the placement
  • There are no fees for finding the work placement
